Our story
Born in Zambia. Built by Zambians. Growing countrywide.
CrunchyKing began with a bold ambition: to build a proudly Zambian fast-food brand strong enough to stand alongside the world’s biggest restaurant names.
The vision was clear—to serve generous, delicious and affordable meals prepared with care, while creating a welcoming place where families, friends and communities could gather. Bringing that vision to life, however, demanded courage, patience and relentless determination.
Before the first meal was served, we faced rejected locations, hesitant suppliers, construction delays, rising costs, equipment challenges and moments of real uncertainty. But we refused to let setbacks define our future. Every obstacle strengthened our resolve, and every challenge gave us the knowledge to build better.
Behind the scenes, we developed everything from the ground up: kitchens, cold rooms, extraction systems, refrigeration, counters, technology, packaging, uniforms, recipes and operating procedures. Our chicken recipes went through repeated testing of marinades, brines, breading blends, cooking temperatures and preparation methods until we achieved the flavour and crunch we wanted customers to remember.
Nothing was left to chance.
In April 2026, during the Easter period, CrunchyKing opened its first restaurant at Gardenhouse on Mumbwa Road.
After years of setbacks, long working days and countless behind-the-scenes problems solved, the moment finally arrived: customers walked through our doors. The response was incredible. Families came together, queues formed and thousands of meals were served during the opening period.
Gardenhouse proved that Zambia was ready to embrace a homegrown restaurant brand with its own personality, flavour and vision. But opening our first store was only the beginning. We had to learn quickly, strengthen our systems, train our teams, listen carefully to our customers and deliver consistency under pressure.
Operational challenges and mistakes became valuable lessons—lessons that helped us grow stronger, sharper and more prepared for the future.
After Gardenhouse came CrunchyKing Arcades Shopping Mall, next to NuMetro Cinema. This second restaurant introduced the brand to even more customers across Lusaka and marked another important step in our growth.
Work also continued on future locations, including Bonaventure, Chalala and Chilumbulu, while we explored further opportunities in communities across Zambia.
Every location has brought its own challenges, from construction, electrical work and plumbing to cold rooms, extraction systems, signage, security and equipment installation. Building the CrunchyKing network has demanded patience, resilience, teamwork and constant problem-solving.
Our goal has never been to open stores as quickly as possible. Our goal has been to build a strong, lasting foundation for a brand that can serve generations.
CrunchyKing is proudly 100% Zambian-owned and Muslim-owned. We are committed to serving Halal-compliant food while upholding high standards of quality, cleanliness, food safety and customer service.
Our menu includes crispy fried chicken, family buckets, burgers, wraps, winglets, tenders, chips, kids’ meals and refreshing treats. Every product is created to deliver generous portions, memorable flavour and genuine value.
But CrunchyKing is about more than chicken.
It is about believing in Zambian ideas, creating employment, developing young talent and supporting local businesses and suppliers wherever possible. It is about proving that a brand born in Zambia can be professionally built, proudly presented and loved across the country.
Most importantly, it is about our customers. Their support, feedback and loyalty continue to shape the brand we are becoming.
Our journey began in Lusaka, but our dream reaches far beyond one city.
Our long-term plan is to grow CrunchyKing countrywide and bring our food and hospitality to communities throughout Zambia. We want customers in every province to experience the same CrunchyKing flavour, quality and warm welcome.
As we expand, we aim to create more jobs, train more young Zambians, work with more local suppliers and contribute meaningfully to the communities where we operate.
The road ahead will bring new challenges, but our journey has already taught us something powerful: setbacks do not have to stop a dream.
CrunchyKing was built through courage, sacrifice, persistence and belief. We started with an idea, pushed forward through rejection and uncertainty, and opened our doors because we refused to quit.
This is more than the story of a restaurant.
It is the story of a Zambian dream becoming a Zambian brand—and a Zambian brand preparing to grow nationwide.
